A Hellbender releases a fire swarm of saffron shiners and other native fish. Upon breaking though the surface of the water, the fish swarm transforms into a flock of passenger pigeons. A now extinct bird whose massive flocks nesting on the banks of the river gave the Pigeon River its name.
